Uniaz Beta 16/50 Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Azelnidipine (16mg) + Metoprolol Succinate (25mg). It is used for hypertension (high blood pressure). It belongs to the group of medicines called Calcium channel blocker and Beta blocker.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Uniaz Beta 16/50 Tablet are swelling of the ankles and feet, flushing, headache and palpitations. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Uniaz Beta 16/50 Tablet works.
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Most side effects of Uniaz Beta 16/50 are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Uniaz Beta 16/25 Tablet SR may be taken with or without food.
Uniaz Beta 16/25 Tablet SR is a combination of two medicines azelnidipine and metoprolol succinate. Metoprolol succinate (a beta-blocker) reduces heart rate and the force of heart contractions. Azelnidipine (a calcium channel blocker) helps relax blood vessels, making blood flow easier. Together, they help control high blood pressure and improve heart health.
Ankle swelling is the commonest reason people stop this medicine — tell your doctor, as there are ways to manage it. Tell your doctor if your chest pain becomes more frequent or more severe after starting. Swollen, tender or overgrown gums should be reported; good brushing and regular dental care reduce the risk. Never stop this medicine suddenly. Stopping abruptly can cause a sharp rise in blood pressure, worsening chest pain or a heart attack — your doctor will reduce it gradually. Tell your doctor if you have asthma or long-standing lung disease; this group can tighten the airways. If you have diabetes, be aware that this medicine can mask the early warning signs of low blood sugar, apart from sweating. Report a resting pulse that is persistently very slow, or fainting.
If you miss a dose of Uniaz Beta 16/25 Tablet SR, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed dose.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat.
