Ursolic 150 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Ursodeoxycholic Acid (150mg). It is used for primary biliary cholangitis (primary biliary cirrhosis), cholestatic liver diseases and raised bile acids as advised by physician. It belongs to the group of medicines called Bile acid (Ursodeoxycholic acid).
Take by mouth as prescribed by your doctor, preferably with food. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Ursolic 150 mg Tablet are diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain and indigestion. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Ursolic 150 mg Tablet works.
Most side effects of Ursolic are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take by mouth as prescribed by your doctor, preferably with food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew. Dose and duration depend on body weight and condition (e.g., gallstones or cholestatic liver disease); take regularly and do not stop without medical advice.
Ursodeoxycholic acid is a hydrophilic bile acid that reduces cholesterol saturation in bile by decreasing hepatic cholesterol secretion and intestinal absorption. It also improves bile flow and protects liver cells from toxic bile acids.
Use only under medical supervision in liver/biliary disorders. Not suitable for calcified/non-cholesterol gallstones, non-functioning gallbladder, acute cholecystitis/cholangitis, or complete biliary obstruction. Monitor liver function tests as advised. Seek care if severe abdominal pain, persistent diarrhoea, jaundice worsening, or allergic reactions occur.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine may cause loose motions and stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
