Medicines in Capsule Form

Capsules consist of a gelatin or vegetarian shell containing powder, liquid, or pellets. They are one of the most patient-friendly dosage forms, offering easy swallowing, effective taste masking, and reliable absorption.

Hard gelatin capsules contain powder or granules and are commonly used for antibiotics, vitamins, and supplements. Soft gelatin (softgel) capsules contain liquid fills and are used for fat-soluble vitamins (D, E), omega-3 fish oil, and certain medicines.

Vegetarian capsules made from hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) are an alternative for those who avoid animal-derived gelatin. These are commonly used for Ayurvedic, herbal, and dietary supplements.
