How Airkast L Tablet works

Airkast-L Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Levocetirizine and Montelukast, which relieve sneezing and a runny nose due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antihistamine that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist. It works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose, and improves symptoms.

How to take Airkast L Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Airkast-L Tablet may be taken with or without food.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Airkast-L Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Airkast L than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Airkast L Tablet

Most side effects of Airkast L are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Stop taking Airkast-L Tablet at least three days before allergy skin testing, as it may affect the results. Inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney disease before taking Airkast-L Tablet.
