Levofloxacin 500 mg (as levofloxacin hemihydrate) tablet
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, urinary tract infections (including complicated UTI and pyelonephritis), prostatitis, and certain skin/soft tissue infections (as prescribed).
Levofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This blocks DNA replication and repair, leading to bacterial death.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily. Can be taken with or without food; take with water and at the same time each day. Avoid taking with antacids, iron, zinc, sucralfate, or calcium-containing products within 2 hours before/after the dose.
