Composition of Arkamin H Tablet

Arkamin H Tablet contains Hydrochlorothiazide (20mg) + Clonidine (100mcg). It belongs to the Centrally acting alpha-2 adrenergic agonist class of medicines.

How Arkamin H Tablet works

Clonidine is a centrally acting alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. It reduces sympathetic outflow from the brain, lowering heart rate and relaxing blood vessels, which decreases blood pressure.

How to take Arkamin H Tablet

Take exactly as prescribed, usually 1–2 times daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food. Do not stop suddenly; dose should be tapered to avoid rebound hypertension.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe dehydration, a sharp fall in blood pressure and dangerous salt imbalances. It can seriously disturb the heart's rhythm and blood pressure. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Arkamin H are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

May cause marked drowsiness—avoid driving/alcohol until effects are known. Do not discontinue abruptly (risk of rebound severe hypertension). Use with caution in heart rhythm problems, bradycardia, heart failure, kidney disease, depression, and elderly. Monitor blood pressure and pulse regularly.

Do not take Arkamin H if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people who are unable to pass urine, or who are severely dehydrated. Your doctor will check that this is suitable for your particular heart condition.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased sedation), beta-blockers (risk of bradycardia and rebound hypertension on withdrawal), tricyclic antidepressants (may reduce antihypertensive effect), other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering), sedatives/hypnotics, antipsychotics

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
