Same salt, different brand — what does that mean?

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Augpen Kid DT. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.

All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.

Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.

How to take Augpen Kid DT

Dispersible tablet: dissolve the tablet in a small amount of water and give immediately. Dose and duration should be as prescribed by the doctor based on child’s weight and infection severity. Can be taken with food to reduce stomach upset; give doses at evenly spaced intervals and complete the full course.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Expert advice for Augpen Kid DT

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Augpen Kid 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Augpen Kid 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT until and unless prescribed by the doctor. You must also never share your child’s medicine with anyone else even if they show similar symptoms. Do not give Augpen Kid 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. It cannot be said whether the same medicine will work on future infections. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Augpen Kid 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines. Stop Augpen Kid 200 mg/28.5 mg Tablet DT immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty.
