Azithromycin 250 mg
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections (e.g., uncomplicated chlamydial infections) as prescribed.
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This stops growth of susceptible bacteria and helps clear infection.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed; usually once daily for a fixed course. Can be taken with or without food (take after food if stomach upset occurs). Swallow with water and complete the full course; avoid taking antacids containing aluminium/magnesium within 2 hours of the dose.

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Azithroton 250MG Tab. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Use only for bacterial infections; misuse can cause resistance. Use with caution in liver disease, history of jaundice/hepatitis with azithromycin, myasthenia gravis, and in patients with risk of QT prolongation/arrhythmias (e.g., low potassium/magnesium, existing heart rhythm problems). Seek urgent care for severe allergic reaction, severe/persistent diarrhoea (possible C. difficile), or signs of liver injury (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine).
