Uses of Basalog 100

Management of diabetes mellitus to improve glycaemic control in adults and children where basal (long-acting) insulin is required; Type 1 diabetes (with short/rapid-acting insulin) and Type 2 diabetes (alone or with oral antidiabetics/other insulin).

How it works

Insulin glargine is a long-acting basal insulin analogue. After subcutaneous injection it forms microprecipitates that slowly release insulin, providing a relatively constant glucose-lowering effect over ~24 hours by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and reducing hepatic glucose production.

Directions for use

For subcutaneous use only. Inject once daily at the same time each day into abdomen, thigh or upper arm; rotate injection sites. Use as prescribed based on blood glucose; do not dilute or mix with other insulins in the same syringe/pen. Check label and appearance before use; never inject intravenously.
