Composition of Candid Lotion

Candid Lotion contains Clotrimazole (1% w/v). It belongs to the Imidazole antifungal class of medicines.

How Candid Lotion works

Clotrimazole is an imidazole antifungal that inhibits ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes. This increases membrane permeability and causes leakage of cell contents, leading to fungal cell death or growth inhibition.

How to take Candid Lotion

For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer of lotion to the affected skin 2–3 times daily or as directed by a doctor. Continue for the full prescribed duration (often 2–4 weeks) and for a few days after symptoms improve to prevent recurrence. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and broken skin; wash hands after use.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Candid Lotion, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from skin use; swallowing the preparation may cause stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Candid Lotion

Most side effects of Candid are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• rash

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

For external use only. Do not apply to eyes, inside mouth/vagina, or on large areas of broken/oozing skin unless advised. Stop use and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, blistering, or allergy occurs, or if no improvement after 2 weeks (or worsening). Use with caution in young children; consult a doctor. Keep out of reach of children.

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. For external use only. Not for use in the eyes.

Interactions with other medicines

No significant interactions expected with topical use; avoid using other topical products (steroids/irritants/strong soaps) on the same area unless advised as they may increase irritation or reduce efficacy.

How to store Candid Lotion

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from heat and direct light. Keep the container tightly closed.

Expert advice for Candid Lotion

Apply a sufficient amount to cover the affected area and 1 inch of the immediate surrounding skin. Avoid getting it in the eyes, nose, or mouth. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Inform your doctor if the infection does not clear up even after four weeks of treatment. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. If used topically on the nipple area, wash breasts before feeding your child. Do not apply Candid Lotion on cuts or burns. Keep away from children. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Few tips to prevent infection: Keep your feet clean and dry, particularly between the toes. Cut your nails short and prefer open-toe shoes for everyday use. Keep your vagina clean and dry. Use a separate clean towel for the infected area. Take a shower with antifungal soap after gyming or severe sweating. Never share your socks, shoes, and towel with others.
