How Cefi V 100 DT works

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Use only for bacterial infections (not viral). Complete the full course to prevent resistance. Use with caution in patients with history of allergy to cephalosporins/penicillins (risk of hypersensitivity), kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed), and history of colitis/antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Seek urgent care for severe rash, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, or severe/persistent diarrhoea (possible C. difficile).

Do not take Cefi V if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with a known allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics.

Interactions with other medicines

Warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase bleeding risk/INR), probenecid (may increase cefixime levels), live bacterial vaccines such as oral typhoid vaccine (reduced effect), other nephrotoxic drugs (caution in renal impairment)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Cefi V 100 DT

Take Cefi 100mg Tablet DT exactly as prescribed and complete the full course, even if you start feeling better. Stopping Cefi 100mg Tablet DT too early may allow the infection to return and become harder to treat. Drink plenty of fluids while taking Cefi 100mg Tablet DT, especially if fever or infection-related dehydration is present. Diarrhea may occur while taking Cefi 100mg Tablet DT, but it usually resolves after completing the treatment course. Use oral rehydration fluids if diarrhea occurs, and contact your doctor if it becomes severe or bloody. Inform your doctor if you have a history of allergy to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics before taking Cefi 100mg Tablet DT. Stop taking Cefi 100mg Tablet DT and seek immediate medical help if you develop a rash, itching, swelling of the face or mouth, or difficulty breathing. Inform your doctor if you are taking blood thinners or other medicines that may interact with antibiotics. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve within a few days of starting Cefi 100mg Tablet DT. Do not use leftover antibiotics or share Cefi 100mg Tablet DT with others. Report symptoms such as vaginal itching or discharge that may occur due to secondary yeast infection after antibiotic use.
