Cefitek 200Lb Tablet contains Cefixime 200 mg + Lactobacillus (Lactic acid bacillus) (strength unknown). It belongs to the Third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic + Probiotic class of medicines.

Most side effects of Cefitek 200Lb are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Use only for suspected/confirmed bacterial infection. Do not use if allergic to cefixime/cephalosporins; caution in patients with penicillin allergy. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed) and in history of colitis/antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Stop and seek medical help for severe rash, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, persistent/watery or bloody diarrhoea. May affect INR in patients on warfarin.

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with a known allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics. Probiotics are used with caution in people whose immune system is significantly suppressed.

Interactions with other medicines

Warfarin and other anticoagulants (may increase bleeding/INR), probenecid (may increase cefixime levels), antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (may reduce absorption), iron supplements (may reduce absorption), live bacterial vaccines (e.g., oral typhoid vaccine)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Space the doses evenly and complete the course. Keep the reconstituted syrup as the pharmacist instructed and discard it after the stated number of days. Keep up fluids and oral rehydration salts. Return to a normal diet as soon as you can manage it.
