Cefixime 200 mg + Lactobacillus (Lactic acid bacillus) (strength unknown)
Bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, bronchitis), ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, typhoid fever, and other susceptible infections; lactobacillus is added to help reduce antibiotic-associated diarrhoea.
Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Lactobacillus is a probiotic that helps restore normal gut flora disturbed by antibiotics, potentially reducing diarrhoea.
Take as advised by your doctor, usually once or twice daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water; complete the full prescribed course even if you feel better. If also taking antacids/iron supplements, keep a gap (about 2 hours).
Common side effects of CEFITEK 200LB TAB may include:
Use only for suspected/confirmed bacterial infection. Do not use if allergic to cefixime/cephalosporins; caution in patients with penicillin allergy. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed) and in history of colitis/antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Stop and seek medical help for severe rash, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, persistent/watery or bloody diarrhoea. May affect INR in patients on warfarin.
