How Dc-Tus Syrup works

DC-TUS Syrup is a cough/cold preparation. Depending on its ingredients, it may suppress the cough reflex (antitussive), thin/loosen mucus (mucolytic/expectorant) and/or reduce nasal congestion (decongestant) to ease breathing and cough.

How to take Dc-Tus Syrup

Shake well before use. Measure the dose with a cup/spoon. Take as prescribed by a doctor; may be taken with or without food. Do not exceed recommended dose; avoid combining with other cough/cold medicines unless advised.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Dc-Tus as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Dc-Tus than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Dc-Tus Syrup

Most side effects of Dc-Tus are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Formulation/strengths not available—check label before use. Use with caution in children, elderly, pregnancy/breastfeeding, liver or kidney disease, glaucoma, enlarged prostate/urinary retention, thyroid disease, hypertension or heart disease. May cause drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Seek medical advice if cough persists >7 days, is recurrent, or is accompanied by fever, rash, wheezing, breathlessness, chest pain, or blood in sputum.

Interactions with other medicines

May interact with alcohol and other CNS depressants (sedatives, antihistamines, opioids), MAO inhibitors/antidepressants, antihypertensives, anticholinergics and other cough/cold combinations (depends on exact ingredients).

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep bottle tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
