How Decof Syrup 100 ml works

Decof Syrup is a cough/cold preparation; depending on its ingredients it may reduce cough reflex, loosen mucus (expectorant/mucolytic) and relieve nasal/throat irritation. Exact mechanism depends on the active salts present in the formulation.

How to take Decof Syrup 100 ml

Shake well before use. Measure dose with a dosing cup/spoon and take as directed by a physician. Can be taken with or without food; take after food if stomach upset occurs. Do not exceed recommended dose; avoid using multiple cough/cold products together unless advised.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Decof as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Decof than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Warnings and precautions

May cause drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Do not use for prolonged periods without medical advice. Use with caution in children, elderly, liver/kidney disease, asthma/COPD, glaucoma, prostate enlargement/urinary retention, thyroid disease, diabetes, and hypertension depending on ingredients. Seek medical help if symptoms persist >3–5 days, high fever, wheezing, blood in sputum, or severe breathlessness. Do not use in patients taking MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping them if the product contains decongestants/antihistamines/dextromethorphan. Keep out of reach of children.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased sedation), MAO inhibitors/linezolid (risk of serious interactions with several cough-cold actives), serotonergic drugs like SSRIs/SNRIs/triptans (risk of serotonin syndrome if dextromethorphan present), antihypertensives (reduced effect if decongestant present), other antihistamines or antitussives (additive effects)

How to store Decof Syrup 100 ml

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light. Keep the bottle tightly closed and do not freeze.
