How Delpoclav Drops works

Delpoclav 200mg/28.5mg Suspension is an antibiotic. It has two active agents, amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas, clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Delpoclav as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Delpoclav than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Most side effects of Delpoclav are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

How to store Delpoclav Drops

Store Delpoclav below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.

Expert advice for Delpoclav Drops

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Delpoclav 200mg/28.5mg Suspension. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Delpoclav 200mg/28.5mg Suspension until and unless prescribed by the doctor. You must also never share your child’s medicine with anyone else even if they show similar symptoms. Do not give Delpoclav 200mg/28.5mg Suspension to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. It cannot be said whether the same medicine will work on future infections. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Delpoclav 200mg/28.5mg Suspension to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines. Stop Delpoclav 200mg/28.5mg Suspension immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty. Report to the doctor without any delay.
