Desonide (0.05% w/w)
Treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory and pruritic skin conditions such as eczema (atopic dermatitis), dermatitis, allergic rashes and mild psoriasis (as advised by doctor).
Desonide is a low-potency topical corticosteroid. It reduces skin inflammation by suppressing release of inflammatory mediators, thereby decreasing redness, swelling and itching.
For topical use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected area 1–2 times daily or as directed by a doctor; rub in gently. Use the smallest amount for the shortest duration; avoid use on broken skin unless prescribed. Wash hands after application; avoid contact with eyes, mouth and mucosa. Do not cover with occlusive dressings unless advised.

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Desowen Cream. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Use only on affected areas; prolonged or excessive use may cause skin atrophy and systemic corticosteroid effects (especially in children, on large areas, or under occlusion). Avoid use on untreated bacterial, fungal or viral skin infections (e.g., herpes, chickenpox) unless appropriate anti-infective therapy is given. Do not use for acne, rosacea or perioral dermatitis unless advised. Avoid application on face/groin/axillae for long periods. Consult doctor if no improvement within 1–2 weeks or if irritation/worsening occurs.
