Composition of Faceclin Gel

Faceclin Gel contains Clindamycin (1% w/w) + Nicotinamide (4% w/w). It belongs to the Topical antibiotic (Lincosamide) +/- Anti-inflammatory vitamin (Nicotinamide) class of medicines.

How Faceclin Gel works

Topical clindamycin reduces acne-causing bacteria (Cutibacterium acnes) and inflammation in follicles. If nicotinamide is present, it further reduces inflammation and sebum-related irritation.

How to take Faceclin Gel

Clean and dry the affected area. Apply a thin layer once or twice daily as directed; avoid eyes, lips, inside nose and broken skin. Wash hands after application and use sunscreen during daytime.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Faceclin Gel, use it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, severe loose motions and nerve symptoms. It is unlikely to cause serious harm, because the body passes surplus B vitamins out in the urine. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Faceclin Gel

Most side effects of Faceclin are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• irritation

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

For external use only. Prolonged antibiotic use may lead to resistance; use for duration advised. Stop and consult doctor if severe irritation, persistent diarrhea, or signs of allergy occur (rare systemic absorption).

Interactions with other medicines

Other irritating topical products (retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid) may increase dryness/irritation; topical erythromycin may reduce efficacy when combined with clindamycin

Store below 25°C, away from heat and direct sunlight. Keep tube tightly closed.

Faceclin Gel may take several weeks to show its action. Keep using it as suggested by your doctor. Wash your skin with a mild cleanser and pat it dry before applying Faceclin Gel. It may cause minor burning, stinging, or irritation when applied. Inform your doctor if this does not go away. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas. Faceclin Gel can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Wear protective clothing or use sunscreen while stepping out.
