  • nasal itching and discomfort due to allergies

Key benefits

  • Relieves sneezing
  • Reduces runny nose
  • Improves blocked/stuffy nose
  • Decreases nasal itching
  • Controls allergy symptoms with once-daily use

How Furamist Nasal Spray works

Fluticasone furoate is a corticosteroid that works locally in the nasal passages. It reduces inflammation and allergic responses by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby decreasing swelling and mucus production.

How to take Furamist Nasal Spray

For intranasal use only. Use exactly as prescribed; generally used once daily. Shake well before use, prime the pump before first use (and if not used for several days), blow nose gently, spray into each nostril while breathing in gently; avoid spraying into the eyes or directly onto the nasal septum. Use regularly for best effect; may be used with or without food.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Furamist Nasal as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Furamist Nasal than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Furamist Nasal Spray

Most side effects of Furamist Nasal are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

  • Nosebleed (epistaxis)
  • nasal irritation/burning
  • headache
  • sore throat
  • unpleasant taste or smell
  • cough
  • nasal dryness

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Prolonged use may increase risk of nasal ulceration, septal perforation, and glaucoma/cataract; seek advice if vision changes occur. Use caution with recent nasal surgery/trauma or untreated nasal infections. If severe or recurrent nosebleeds occur, stop and consult a doctor. Use with caution in tuberculosis, fungal/viral infections, or immunosuppression. Possible (rare) adrenal suppression with high doses/long-term use, especially in children; monitor growth in pediatric use.
