Gabantin 100 Capsule contains Gabapentin (100mg). It belongs to the Gabapentinoid class of medicines.

How Gabantin 100 Capsule works

Gabapentin modulates neuronal excitability by binding to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the CNS. This reduces release of excitatory neurotransmitters and helps decrease nerve pain and seizure activity.

How to take Gabantin 100 Capsule

Take by mouth as prescribed, with or without food. Usually started at a low dose and gradually increased; take at the same times daily. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice; if using antacids, keep a 2-hour gap.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of GABAntin 100 Capsule, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.\n

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, confusion, unsteadiness and slowed breathing, especially with an opioid or alcohol. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Gabantin 100 Capsule

Most side effects of Gabantin are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Dizziness

• fatigue
• unsteadiness
• peripheral edema
• weight gain
• dry mouth
• nausea

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

How to store Gabantin 100 Capsule

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Gabantin 100 Capsule

Take it at the same time every day, preferably at bedtime, to avoid any dizziness or drowsiness during the day. Avoid taking antacids 2 hours before or after taking GABAntin 100 Capsule as they make it harder for your body to absorb the medicine. It may cause sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. Inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood or behavior, new or worsening depression, or suicidal thoughts or behavior. Do not stop taking GABAntin 100 Capsule suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may increase the frequency of seizure.
