How Glifil-M Tablet works

Glifil M 2.5mg/400mg Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Glibenclamide and Metformin. Glibenclamide is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Metformin is a biguanide which works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

How to take Glifil-M Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glifil M 2.5mg/400mg Tablet is to be taken with food.<br>This medicine may cause stomach upset if taken empty stomach.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Glifil-M as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Glifil-M than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Glifil-M Tablet

Most side effects of Glifil-M are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

PregnancyGlifil M 2.5mg/400mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.<br>Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
BreastfeedingGlifil M 2.5mg/400mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
AlcoholTaking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
KidneyGlifil M 2.5mg/400mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use in patients with kidney disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.
LiverGlifil M 2.5mg/400mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Glifil M 2.5mg/400mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.<br>Glifil M 2.5mg/400mg Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
