Nifedipine (20mg)
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); prevention/management of chronic stable angina (chest pain due to coronary artery disease).
Nifedipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It relaxes and widens blood vessels by reducing calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow to the heart, thereby reducing angina.
Take by mouth as prescribed, usually once daily. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush, chew, or split (retard/controlled-release). Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day.
