Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that irreversibly blocks the gastric H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump) in stomach parietal cells. This markedly reduces acid secretion and promotes healing of acid-related damage.
Capsule for oral use. Take as advised by your doctor, usually once daily preferably 30–60 minutes before food (commonly before breakfast). Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew (can open capsule and sprinkle pellets on soft food only if advised; pellets must not be chewed).
Common side effects of Omez 20 Capsule may include:
Schedule H: use under medical supervision. Long-term use may increase risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, low magnesium, bone fractures, and gastrointestinal infections (e.g., C. difficile). May mask symptoms of stomach cancer—seek evaluation for alarm symptoms (unintentional weight loss, persistent vomiting, blood in vomit/stool, difficulty swallowing). Use caution in severe liver disease. If on prolonged therapy, periodic review and lowest effective dose are recommended.
