Cefixime 200 mg + Clavulanic acid 125 mg (as potassium clavulanate) per tablet
Bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (acute bronchitis, pneumonia), ENT infections (sinusitis, tonsillitis/pharyngitis, otitis media), urinary tract infections, and other susceptible infections where beta-lactamase producing organisms are suspected
Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects cefixime from enzymatic breakdown by resistant bacteria, improving coverage against beta-lactamase producers.
Take orally as prescribed by the doctor, usually once daily or in divided doses depending on infection severity. May be taken with or without food (taking with food can reduce stomach upset). Swallow whole with water and complete the full antibiotic course.
Common side effects of OMNIX CV 200 TAB may include:
Prescription-only antibiotic; use only for suspected/confirmed bacterial infection. Do not use in patients with known allergy to cephalosporins; use caution in penicillin allergy due to possible cross-reactivity. Use with caution in kidney impairment (dose adjustment may be needed) and in history of colitis; persistent/severe diarrhoea may indicate antibiotic-associated colitis. May cause hypersensitivity reactions; stop and seek care if rash, swelling, breathing difficulty occur. Prolonged use may cause superinfection; not effective for viral infections.
