Composition of Pan L Capsule

Pan L Capsule contains Levosulpiride (75mg) + Pantoprazole (40mg). It belongs to the Proton pump inhibitor (Pantoprazole) + Dopamine D2 antagonist prokinetic (Levosulpiride) class of medicines.

How Pan L Capsule works

Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid by blocking the H+/K+ ATPase pump in gastric parietal cells. Levosulpiride is a prokinetic (D2 receptor antagonist) that improves gastric motility and helps relieve nausea, fullness and reflux symptoms.

How to take Pan L Capsule

Capsule: take as prescribed, usually 1 capsule once daily 30 minutes before food (preferably before breakfast). Swallow whole; do not crush or chew (SR/EC formulation).

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause drowsiness, disorientation and abnormal muscle movements. It may cause confusion, blurred vision, sweating and a fast heartbeat. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Pan L Capsule

Most side effects of Pan L are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Headache
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain
• nausea
• constipation
• dizziness
• dry mouth
• sleepiness
• restlessness
• increased prolactin (breast tenderness/galactorrhoea)
• menstrual irregularities

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Pan L Capsule

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in liver impairment; prolonged PPI use may increase risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, low magnesium, fractures and infections. Levosulpiride may cause extrapyramidal symptoms, drowsiness and raised prolactin; avoid in patients with prolactin-dependent tumors, pheochromocytoma, epilepsy, Parkinsonism or history of movement disorders. Seek medical advice if alarm symptoms occur (weight loss, persistent vomiting, GI bleeding, difficulty swallowing).

Do not take Pan L if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with bleeding, blockage or perforation of the gut, or with certain heart rhythm disorders.

Interactions with other medicines

Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin—monitor INR), drugs requiring acidic pH for absorption (ketoconazole, itraconazole, atazanavir), digoxin (risk with low magnesium), methotrexate (high dose), antipsychotics/other dopamine antagonists (additive extrapyramidal effects), levodopa/dopamine agonists (reduced effect), QT-prolonging drugs (caution)

How to store Pan L Capsule

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack.

Expert advice for Pan L Capsule

Take it shortly before meals for bloating and early fullness. Sip fluids frequently in small amounts, and use oral rehydration salts if you have been vomiting. Take it before breakfast, not after a meal. Eat smaller meals, avoid late dinners, raise the head of your bed and avoid smoking — these do as much as the tablet for reflux.
