How Prestakind works

Prestakind 200mcg Tablet increases contractions of the uterus to cause abortion. It can also prevent post-delivery bleeding due to poor contraction of the uterus.

How to take Prestakind

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Prestakind 200mcg Tablet should be taken with or after food.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Prestakind 200mcg Tablet, it is likely that the termination will not be fully effective. Talk to your doctor if you forget to take Prestakind 200mcg Tablet.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause bloating and loose motions. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Prestakind

Most side effects of Prestakind are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Loose motions with high fever, blood in the stool or severe abdominal pain need a doctor, not a home remedy. Oral rehydration salts and fluids matter more than any medicine when you have loose motions — dehydration is the real danger, especially in children and older people. Take a probiotic a couple of hours apart from an antibiotic so the antibiotic does not simply kill it. Do not use an anti-motility medicine such as loperamide if you have a fever or blood in the stool.

Do not take Prestakind if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Probiotics are used with caution in people whose immune system is significantly suppressed.

Interactions with other medicines

Antibiotics reduce the effect of probiotics taken at the same time.

How to store Prestakind

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Some probiotic preparations ask to be refrigerated — follow the pack. Keep out of the reach of children.

Expert advice for Prestakind

Prestakind 200mcg Tablet helps terminate pregnancy when used along with another medicine called mifepristone. It may also be used to prevent excessive bleeding after delivery. For pregnancy termination: Take it no later than 63 days after the first day of your last menstrual period. Take it 36 – 48 hours after taking mifepristone. Rest for at least 3 hours after taking the medicine. If you vomit within 30 minutes of taking the tablet, talk to your doctor immediately, as you may need to take another tablet. Take it only as prescribed by the doctor. Miscarriages, if incomplete, may result in serious medical complications leading to hospitalization, surgery and possible infertility. Vaginal bleeding lasting for approximately 12 days may occur after taking this medicine. Inform your doctor immediately if excessive bleeding occurs or if you suffer from severe abdominal pain. Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as it can cause dizziness and sleepiness. It does not affect fertility. Use contraception to avoid pregnancy.
