S-Citadep 10 mg Tablet contains Escitalopram Oxalate (10mg). It belongs to the SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) class of medicines.

How S-Citadep 10 mg Tablet works

Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It increases serotonin levels in the brain by reducing its reuptake into nerve cells, helping improve mood and reduce anxiety symptoms. Clinical benefit usually builds up over 1–4 weeks.

How to take S-Citadep 10 mg Tablet

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice. If you miss a dose, take it when remembered unless it is near the next dose; do not double dose.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of S Citadep 10 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause fits, dangerous heart rhythm disturbance and coma, and is particularly dangerous with the older tricyclic medicines. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of S-Citadep are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• increased sweating
• diarrhea or constipation
• fatigue
• decreased appetite
• sexual dysfunction (reduced libido/delayed ejaculation)

Warnings and precautions

Prescription medicine. May increase risk of suicidal thoughts/behavior especially in young adults early in treatment or during dose changes—seek help for worsening mood, agitation, self-harm thoughts. Do not use with MAO inhibitors, linezolid or IV methylene blue; allow adequate washout. Risk of serotonin syndrome (agitation, fever, tremor, diarrhea) especially with other serotonergic drugs. Can cause QT prolongation—use caution in heart rhythm problems, low potassium/magnesium, or with QT-prolonging medicines. May cause hyponatremia (especially elderly/diuretics) and increased bleeding risk (with NSAIDs/anticoagulants). Avoid abrupt discontinuation due to withdrawal symptoms. Use caution in bipolar disorder (may trigger mania), seizures, liver impairment.

Do not take S-Citadep if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be combined with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor, or started within the gap your doctor specifies after one.

Interactions with other medicines

MAO inhibitors (contraindicated), linezolid/methylene blue, other serotonergic drugs (triptans, tramadol, lithium, tryptophan, St John’s wort), anticoagulants/antiplatelets/NSAIDs (bleeding risk), QT-prolonging drugs (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, certain antipsychotics/macrolides), CYP2C19 inhibitors (e.g., omeprazole/esomeprazole) may increase escitalopram levels, alcohol/CNS depressants (additive sedation).

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Take S Citadep 10 Tablet in the morning since it can keep you awake if taken late at night. Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts. It can take 2-3 weeks for S Citadep 10 Tablet to start working. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor first. Stopping the treatment suddenly can also cause upset stomach, flu-like withdrawal symptoms, and sleep disturbance. Some people can develop dizziness or drowsiness after taking this medicine. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you.
