Composition of Sanoxaban 2.5 mg Tablet

Sanoxaban 2.5 mg Tablet contains Apixaban (2.5mg). It belongs to the Direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC), Factor Xa inhibitor class of medicines.

Uses of Sanoxaban 2.5 mg Tablet

• Prevention of atherothrombotic events in adults with coronary artery disease (CAD) and/or peripheral artery disease (PAD) when used with low-dose aspirin; prevention of cardiovascular death
• myocardial infarction and stroke in eligible high-risk patients as prescribed.

How Sanoxaban 2.5 mg Tablet works

Rivaroxaban is an oral direct Factor Xa inhibitor. It reduces thrombin generation and blood clot formation by blocking Factor Xa in the coagulation cascade, thereby lowering the risk of clot-related cardiovascular events.

How to take Sanoxaban 2.5 mg Tablet

Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Usually taken orally with water at the same time each day; rivaroxaban 2.5 mg is commonly used with low-dose aspirin. May be taken with or without food. Do not stop or miss doses without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Sanoxaban 2.5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause serious and difficult-to-control bleeding. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Sanoxaban 2.5 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Sanoxaban are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• gum bleeding
• blood in urine
• gastrointestinal bleeding
• anemia
• nausea
• dizziness
• headache
• elevated liver enzymes

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Risk of serious bleeding—seek urgent care for unusual bleeding, black stools, vomiting blood, severe headache or weakness. Use with caution in kidney or liver impairment, history of bleeding disorders, uncontrolled hypertension, and in elderly. Stopping abruptly can increase risk of thrombosis—do not discontinue without doctor advice. Inform doctor before any surgery/dental procedure. Not recommended in significant hepatic disease associated with coagulopathy; avoid if active pathological bleeding. Use caution with spinal/epidural anesthesia (risk of hematoma).

Do not take Sanoxaban if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with active bleeding, a bleeding disorder, or a recent bleed into the brain.

Interactions with other medicines

Other anticoagulants/antiplatelets (warfarin, heparin, apixaban, clopidogrel) increase bleeding risk; NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac) increase bleeding risk. Strong CYP3A4 and P-gp inhibitors (ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, clarithromycin) increase rivaroxaban levels; strong inducers (rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, St John’s wort) reduce effect. SSRIs/SNRIs may increase bleeding risk.

How to store Sanoxaban 2.5 mg Tablet

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), in original blister pack, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.

Sanoxaban 2.5 Tablet can be taken with or without food. Night-time administration is not preferable. It interacts less with food or other medicines. Hence, frequent dose changes are not required. It increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, using sharp objects, or engaging in contact sports (e.g., football, wrestling). Informyour doctor if you see blood in your vomit, urine, or stool (black, tarry stools or bright red blood). If you are going to have surgery or dental treatment, you may be asked to stop taking Sanoxaban 2.5 Tablet temporarily. Notify your doctor if you have any kidney problems. Do not stop taking medication without talking to your doctor.
