Sibelium 10 mg Tablet contains Flunarizine (10mg). It belongs to the Calcium channel blocker (selective calcium-entry blocker) class of medicines.

How Sibelium 10 mg Tablet works

Flunarizine is a selective calcium channel blocker that reduces calcium influx in neurons and vascular smooth muscle. This helps stabilize blood vessels and decreases neuronal excitability, reducing frequency and severity of migraine attacks and vestibular symptoms.

How to take Sibelium 10 mg Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually once daily at night (may cause drowsiness). Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day and swallow with water. Not for acute migraine pain relief.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Sibelium 10mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, confusion and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Sibelium are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Long-term use may lead to movement disorders (tremor, rigidity) especially in elderly; stop and consult doctor if such symptoms occur. Use cautiously in hepatic impairment. Not intended for acute treatment of migraine attack.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), sedating antihistamines, benzodiazepines, opioids (additive sedation); antipsychotics and metoclopramide (increased risk of extrapyramidal symptoms); other drugs causing parkinsonism; CYP enzyme inhibitors/inducers may affect levels (clinical relevance varies).

Do not take Sibelium 10mg Tablet to treat an acute attack of migraine. Some tips that may help you avoid a migraine attack include having your meals at the same time every day; avoiding bright lights and extreme temperatures; avoiding loud music and noisy places; avoiding chocolates, cheese, processed food, alcohol, and smoking; and getting sufficient sleep and avoiding stress. Take Sibelium 10mg Tablet at nighttime before going to bed. It may cause sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how Sibelium 10mg Tablet affects you. Notify your doctor if you develop a skin rash, muscle aches, tremors, difficulty moving, or abnormal, uncontrolled movement.
