Composition of Tenegross-20 mg Tablet

Tenegross-20 mg Tablet contains Teneligliptin 20 mg (as Teneligliptin hydrobromide hydrate) tablet. It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin) class of medicines.

How Tenegross-20 mg Tablet works

Teneligliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). This enhances glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion, lowering blood glucose with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.

How to take Tenegross-20 mg Tablet

Oral tablet. Take as advised by the doctor, usually 20 mg once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop or change dose without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause low blood sugar, particularly if you also take other diabetes medicines. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Tenegross-20 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Tenegross-20 mg are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Headache
• dizziness
• nasopharyngitis/common cold symptoms
• constipation
• stomach discomfort
• nausea
• skin rash/itching
• hypoglycaemia (more likely when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas)

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in patients with history of pancreatitis; stop and seek care if severe persistent abdominal pain occurs. Monitor blood glucose regularly; risk of hypoglycaemia increases with sulfonylureas/insulin (dose adjustment may be needed). Use caution in severe liver disease; kidney dose adjustment is generally not required for teneligliptin but follow physician advice. Rare severe hypersensitivity reactions and severe joint pain have been reported with DPP-4 inhibitors.

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycaemia), other antidiabetic medicines (additive glucose-lowering), strong CYP3A4/P-gp inhibitors or inducers may alter teneligliptin levels (clinical relevance variable); inform doctor about all medicines and supplements

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
