Composition of Thyromed-25 Tablet

Thyromed-25 Tablet contains Levothyroxine sodium 25 mcg tablet. It belongs to the Synthetic thyroid hormone (T4) class of medicines.

How Thyromed-25 Tablet works

Levothyroxine is synthetic thyroxine (T4), a thyroid hormone normally produced by the body. It is converted to active T3 in tissues and helps restore normal thyroid hormone levels, regulating metabolism, energy, heart rate and growth.

How to take Thyromed-25 Tablet

Take orally once daily exactly as prescribed, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach 30–60 minutes before breakfast with water. Avoid taking with calcium/iron/antacids or multivitamins; keep a 4-hour gap. Use the same brand consistently and do not stop or change dose without medical advice; dose is adjusted based on TSH/T4 tests.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, chest pain, tremor, fever and dangerous heart rhythm disturbance. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Thyromed-25 Tablet

Most side effects of Thyromed-25 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Not for weight loss/obesity treatment. Use caution in heart disease, angina, arrhythmias, hypertension and in elderly—may need lower starting dose. Overdose can cause symptoms of hyperthyroidism and serious cardiac effects. Monitor TSH/free T4 periodically; dose requirements may change in pregnancy, with weight changes, or with interacting medicines. If signs of chest pain, severe palpitations, shortness of breath occur, seek medical care.

Do not take Thyromed-25 if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with an untreated overactive thyroid or untreated adrenal insufficiency.

Interactions with other medicines

Calcium carbonate,iron salts,aluminium/magnesium antacids,sucralfate,cholestyramine/colestipol,sevelamer (reduce absorption); rifampicin,carbamazepine,phenytoin (increase metabolism); sertraline,amiodarone (alter thyroid levels); warfarin (increased anticoagulant effect); insulin/oral antidiabetics (dose adjustment may be needed); oestrogens (may increase requirement).

How to store Thyromed-25 Tablet

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister/strip and out of reach of children.

Keep to the same brand where you can, and take it at the same time every morning. Have your thyroid blood test repeated as your doctor advises after any dose change.
