Uses of Tresiba Penfill

Treatment of diabetes mellitus to improve glycaemic control in adults, adolescents and children (typically type 1 and type 2 diabetes) as a long-acting basal insulin.

How it works

Insulin degludec is an ultra‑long acting basal insulin analogue. After subcutaneous injection it forms multi-hexamers that slowly release insulin, providing a stable, prolonged glucose-lowering effect for more than 24 hours.

Directions for use

For subcutaneous use only in a compatible insulin pen using Penfill cartridges. Inject once daily at the same time each day or, if needed, with flexible timing as advised by the doctor. Can be taken with or without food; rotate injection sites (abdomen, thigh, upper arm). Do not mix with other insulins in the same syringe/cartridge; not for IV use.
