Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Tusq -D Cough Loz Orange contains Amylmetacresol (0.6mg) + Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide (5mg). It belongs to the Demulcent/antitussive throat preparation (lozenge) class of medicines.
Symptomatic relief of cough and throat irritation; soothing sore throat and hoarseness associated with common cold/upper respiratory tract irritation.
Medicated lozenges typically soothe the irritated throat by increasing saliva and forming a protective coating, which helps reduce the urge to cough. Depending on the active ingredients, they may also provide mild local anesthetic and/or antiseptic action in the throat.
Dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth; do not chew or swallow whole. Repeat as needed as per pack directions/doctor advice. Not recommended for young children due to choking risk; follow age-specific guidance on the label.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Tusq -D Cough Loz Orange as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Tusq -D Cough Loz Orange than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Tusq -D Cough Loz Orange are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Consult doctor |
|---|---|
| Alcohol | No known interaction |
| Habit forming | No |
Do not exceed the recommended number of lozenges. Use with caution in diabetes (may contain sugar). Stop use and seek medical advice if symptoms persist >3–5 days, worsen, or are accompanied by high fever, breathing difficulty, wheezing, or blood in sputum. Avoid in case of known allergy to any ingredients. Keep out of reach of children; choking hazard in small children.
No major interactions expected with typical cough lozenges when used as directed; if the lozenge contains a local anesthetic/antiseptic, avoid concurrent use of similar throat anesthetic products unless advised by a doctor.
Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the pack tightly closed and do not use if the lozenges are damaged or discolored.
