Caution in renal impairment (dose adjustment may be required) and elderly. Rare risk of pancreatitis—seek urgent care for severe persistent abdominal pain. Severe joint pain and hypersensitivity reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty) can occur; discontinue and consult doctor. Monitor blood glucose; hypoglycaemia risk increases when combined with sulfonylureas/insulin.

Insulin, sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), ACE inhibitors (may increase angioedema risk), corticosteroids and thiazide/loop diuretics (may raise blood glucose), beta-blockers (may mask hypoglycaemia symptoms).
