Vildaray SR 50 Tablet contains Vildagliptin (50mg). It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin) class of medicines.

How Vildaray SR 50 Tablet works

Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases incretin hormones (GLP-1, GIP). This enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reduces glucagon release, lowering blood glucose with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used without insulin/sulfonylureas.

How to take Vildaray SR 50 Tablet

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day; swallow whole with water (do not crush/chew, as it is SR). Can be taken with or without food unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Vildaray 50 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause low blood sugar, particularly if you also take other diabetes medicines. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Monitor liver function; stop and seek medical advice if symptoms of hepatitis/jaundice occur. Use with caution in renal impairment and in elderly; dose adjustments may be needed. Rare risk of pancreatitis—seek urgent care for severe persistent abdominal pain (with/without vomiting). Hypoglycaemia risk increases if used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Inform doctor about history of heart failure, kidney disease, liver disease, or allergy to DPP-4 inhibitors.

Do not take Vildaray SR if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk),ACE inhibitors (may increase risk of angioedema),thiazide diuretics/corticosteroids/sympathomimetics (may worsen glycaemic control)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.

Vildaray 50 Tablet should be taken at the same time every day since this helps you remember to take it. It may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor and anxiety. Be careful while driving or operating machinery until you know how Vildaray 50 Tablet affects you. Your doctor may check your kidney and liver function before starting treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, fatigue, loss of appetite, darkened urine or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).
