Vildarise 50 mg Tablet contains Vildagliptin (50mg). It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin) class of medicines.

How Vildarise 50 mg Tablet works

Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). This enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reduces glucagon release, lowering blood glucose with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.

How to take Vildarise 50 mg Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually 50 mg once or twice daily depending on regimen and combination therapy. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day and do not stop without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Vildarise Tablet 50mg, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause low blood sugar, particularly if you also take other diabetes medicines. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Monitor liver function before starting and periodically; stop and seek medical advice if jaundice, dark urine, persistent nausea/vomiting or abdominal pain occur (risk of hepatitis). Use with caution in renal impairment; dose adjustment may be needed in moderate to severe kidney disease. Rare risk of pancreatitis—seek urgent care for severe persistent abdominal pain. Hypoglycaemia risk increases when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Inform doctor about history of heart failure, liver disease, kidney disease, or angioedema.

Do not take Vildarise if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin, sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), ACE inhibitors (may increase risk of angioedema), corticosteroids/thyroid hormones/sympathomimetics (may worsen glucose control), thiazide diuretics (may increase blood glucose)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.

Vildarise Tablet 50mg should be taken at the same time every day since this helps you remember to take it. It may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor and anxiety. Be careful while driving or operating machinery until you know how Vildarise Tablet 50mg affects you. Your doctor may check your kidney and liver function before starting treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, fatigue, loss of appetite, darkened urine or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).
