A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Voglase 0.2 Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Voglase 0.2 Tablet contains Voglibose (0.2mg).
Type 2 diabetes mellitus
Voglase 0.2mg Tablet is an anti-diabetic medicine. It inhibits the intestinal enzymes responsible for breaking complex sugars into simple sugars such as glucose. This prevents blood glucose levels from rising very high immediately after meals.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Voglase 0.2mg Tablet is to be taken on an empty stomach.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Voglase 0.2mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Voglase than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Voglase are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Voglase. Some combinations can change how Voglase works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Voglase below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Voglase 0.2mg Tablet is used together with other diabetes medicines to control blood sugar and avoid long-term complications. You should continue to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines along with Voglase 0.2mg Tablet. Voglase 0.2mg Tablet lowers your post-meal blood sugar levels. Therefore, it should be taken before meals. Side effects such as stomach pain, gas, and diarrhea may occur during the first few weeks of treatment, but should get better with time. If you have low blood sugar, treat it with pure glucose tablets, not table sugar, because this medicine slows your body's absorption of ordinary sugar.
