How Voglistat GM2 Tablet works

Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that slows breakdown and absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine. This reduces the rise in blood glucose after meals and helps improve overall glycaemic control.

How to take Voglistat GM2 Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Typically taken just before the start of meals (or with the first bite of food) as prescribed by the doctor. Follow diet and exercise advice; do not skip meals after taking. If a dose is missed, take with the next meal—do not double the dose.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Voglistat GM2 as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Voglistat GM2 than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Voglistat GM2 Tablet

Most side effects of Voglistat GM2 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Flatulence
• abdominal pain
• bloating
• diarrhoea
• nausea

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in patients with gastrointestinal disorders (e.g., inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal obstruction/ulceration) and in severe renal/hepatic impairment. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases when used with insulin or sulfonylureas—carry glucose (dextrose) for low sugar episodes (table sugar may act slowly). Monitor liver enzymes if advised. Not recommended in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Seek medical help for severe abdominal pain, persistent diarrhoea, jaundice or allergic reactions.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycaemia), other antidiabetics, digestive enzyme preparations/intestinal adsorbents (may reduce effect), corticosteroids and thiazide diuretics (may raise glucose), thyroid hormones (may alter glycaemic control)
