Yogatel Am 40 contains Telmisartan 40 mg + Amlodipine 5 mg (per tablet). It belongs to the Angiotensin II receptor blocker (Telmisartan) + Calcium channel blocker (Amlodipine) class of medicines.

How Yogatel Am 40 works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II action. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that widens arteries by reducing calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, lowering blood pressure.

How to take Yogatel Am 40

Tablet for oral use. Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day; can be taken with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Yogatel Am as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Yogatel Am than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Yogatel Am 40

Most side effects of Yogatel Am are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• ankle/leg swelling (edema)
• flushing

• palpitations
• nausea

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

May cause low blood pressure especially in dehydrated patients; use caution in kidney impairment, renal artery stenosis, liver disease, and heart failure. Monitor BP, kidney function and serum potassium; risk of hyperkalemia especially with potassium supplements/diuretics. Avoid in pregnancy; may harm the unborn baby. Seek care for severe dizziness, fainting, facial swelling or breathing difficulty.

Interactions with other medicines

Potassium supplements/salt substitutes and potassium-sparing diuretics (risk of hyperkalemia), NSAIDs (reduced antihypertensive effect and kidney risk), lithium (increased lithium toxicity), other antihypertensives/diuretics (additive hypotension), alcohol (increased dizziness), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors like clarithromycin/azoles (may increase amlodipine effects)

How to store Yogatel Am 40

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original strip/container and out of reach of children.
