How Zyvisc Injection works

How to take Zyvisc Injection

For intra-articular use only, administered by a trained healthcare professional under aseptic conditions. Do not inject intravenously or into infected/inflamed skin areas; rest the joint after injection as advised.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Zyvisc as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is not a realistic risk from a moisturiser used on the skin. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Zyvisc Injection

Most side effects of Zyvisc are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Prescription-only; must be injected into the joint by a healthcare professional. Avoid use in patients with hypersensitivity to hyaluronate or any component; caution in patients with allergy to avian proteins/feathers/eggs if product is avian-derived (check label). Do not use in infected joint, skin infections at the injection site, or severe joint inflammation due to infection. Temporary worsening of pain/swelling can occur; seek care for severe pain, fever, marked swelling, or signs of infection. Use with caution in pregnancy/breastfeeding due to limited data.

Interactions with other medicines
