Amlosafe Mt 25 is a prescription medicine containing Amlodipine (5mg) + Metoprolol Succinate (25mg). It is used for hypertension (high blood pressure), management of chronic stable angina (chest pain) and reduction of blood pressure in patients requiring combination therapy. It belongs to the group of medicines called Calcium channel blocker + Beta-1 selective beta-blocker (extended-release).
Take by mouth as directed by the doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Amlosafe Mt 25 are headache, dizziness, fatigue and slow heart rate (bradycardia). Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Amlosafe Mt 25 works.
Most side effects of Amlosafe Mt are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take by mouth as directed by the doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew (extended-release component). Can be taken with or without food; avoid stopping suddenly without medical advice.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure. Metoprolol succinate is a cardioselective beta-blocker that slows heart rate and reduces the force of contraction, lowering blood pressure and decreasing cardiac workload.
Do not stop metoprolol abruptly (risk of worsening angina/heart issues). Use with caution in asthma/COPD, diabetes (may mask hypoglycemia), heart block, severe bradycardia, heart failure, and liver disease. Monitor blood pressure and pulse regularly; may cause dizziness—use caution while driving. Seek urgent care for fainting, very slow pulse, severe breathlessness, or swelling suggestive of heart failure.
If you miss a dose of Amlosafe MT 25 Tablet PR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat. Other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering),verapamil/diltiazem/amiodarone/digoxin (risk of bradycardia/heart block),clonidine (withdrawal interactions),CYP3A4 inhibitors like clarithromycin/itraconazole (increase amlodipine),rifampicin (may reduce amlodipine),NSAIDs (may reduce antihypertensive effect),insulin/oral antidiabetics (beta-blocker may mask hypoglycemia),MAO inhibitors (caution)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place protected from light and moisture. Keep in original strip and out of reach of children.
