Beniflo 8 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Benidipine 8 mg (as benidipine hydrochloride) tablet. It is used for hypertension (high blood pressure), helps reduce risk of cardiovascular complications such as stroke and heart attack when BP is controlled. It belongs to the group of medicines called Calcium channel blocker (dihydropyridine).
Take as prescribed by the physician. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Beniflo 8 mg Tablet are headache, dizziness, flushing and ankle swelling (peripheral edema). Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Beniflo 8 mg Tablet works.
Most side effects of Beniflo are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take as prescribed by the physician. Usually taken once daily at the same time each day, with or without food; swallow tablet whole with water. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
Benidipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It relaxes blood vessels by inhibiting calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle (and has multi-channel blocking activity on L-, N- and T-type calcium channels), lowering peripheral resistance and blood pressure.
Monitor blood pressure regularly. Use with caution in liver impairment, severe aortic stenosis, heart failure, or low blood pressure. May cause dizziness—avoid driving/operating machinery if affected. Inform doctor if swelling of feet/ankles is troublesome. Not a substitute for lifestyle measures (diet, exercise, salt restriction).
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
