Calaptin 40 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Verapamil (40mg). Treatment of Angina (heart-related chest pain) Treatment of Arrhythmia Treatment of Hypertension (high blood pressure). It belongs to the group of medicines called Calcium Channel Blocker, Beta-blocker.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Calaptin 40 mg Tablet are swelling of the ankles and feet, flushing, headache and palpitations. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Calaptin 40 mg Tablet works.

Most side effects of Calaptin are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Calaptin 40 Tablet should be taken with or after food.
Calaptin 40 Tablet is a calcium channel blocker. It blocks the action of calcium on the heart and blood vessels, thereby widening the blood vessels and allowing more blood and oxygen to reach the heart. This reduces blood pressure and decreases the chances of angina (chest pain).
Use with caution in patients with heart failure, asthma, or severe liver disease. Monitor blood pressure regularly.
If you miss a dose of Calaptin 40 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
May interact with other antihypertensives, NSAIDs, and certain antidepressants.
Store at room temperature (20-25°C), away from light and moisture.
