Oral drops: use the calibrated dropper as directed by the doctor/pediatrician. Can be given directly into the mouth or mixed with a small amount of milk/food; do not mix in a full bottle feed. Give at the same time each day; do not exceed the recommended dose.
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, headache
Use only on medical advice in infants. Overdose may cause hypervitaminosis D leading to hypercalcemia and kidney problems; seek medical help if symptoms of high calcium occur (vomiting, constipation, lethargy, excessive thirst/urination). Use with caution in kidney disease, kidney stones, hypercalcemia, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous disorders. Avoid concurrent use with other vitamin D/calcium products unless prescribed.
Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcemia), digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with hypercalcemia), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital/carbamazepine (reduced vitamin D effect), rifampicin (reduced effect), corticosteroids (reduced effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), aluminum/magnesium antacids (risk of elevated levels with prolonged use)
