Monograph
Estrabet Gel is a prescription medicine containing Estradiol (0.06% w/w). It is used for hormone replacement therapy. It belongs to the group of medicines called Estrogen.
This medicine is for external use only. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Estrabet Gel are nausea, headache, breast tenderness and mood change. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Estrabet Gel works.
Hormone replacement therapy
Most side effects of Estrabet are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the gel. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
Estrabet 0.06% Gel contains a medication called estrogen (female sex hormone). It works by replacing estrogen that is normally produced by the body.
Not for use in patients with a history of hormone-sensitive cancers, liver disease, or unexplained vaginal bleeding. Consult a doctor before use.
If you miss a dose of Estrabet 0.06% Gel, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose.
An overdose of this medicine may cause nausea, vomiting and withdrawal bleeding. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
May interact with anticoagulants, certain anticonvulsants, and other hormone therapies.
Store at room temperature (15-30°C), away from light and moisture.
