Monograph
Rosvie 5MG Tab contains Rosuvastatin 5 mg. Prescription required.
Treatment of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolaemia) and mixed dyslipidaemia; reduction of cardiovascular risk (heart attack, stroke) in appropriate high-risk patients along with diet and lifestyle changes.
Rosuvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that reduces cholesterol synthesis in the liver. It lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides and can modestly raise HDL (good cholesterol), thereby reducing plaque formation and cardiovascular risk.
Oral tablet. Take once daily as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue cholesterol-lowering diet and exercise; do not stop without medical advice.
Headache, muscle pain, weakness, abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, dizziness, increased liver enzymes
Not recommended in active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevation of liver enzymes. Risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis—seek care if unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, fever or dark urine occurs (risk higher with kidney problems, hypothyroidism, elderly, high doses, interacting drugs). Use with caution in kidney impairment and in patients with heavy alcohol use. Liver function tests and lipid profile monitoring may be required. Not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Cyclosporine, gemfibrozil/other fibrates, niacin (high dose), colchicine, protease inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir-containing regimens), warfarin and other anticoagulants (may increase INR), ezetimibe (increased myopathy risk), antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (reduce absorption; separate dosing)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
