Seloken XL 100 Tablet

Seloken Xl 100 Tablet contains Metoprolol Succinate (95mg). Prescription required.

Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), angina (chest pain), chronic heart failure (stable), control of heart rate in certain tachyarrhythmias (as prescribed), secondary prevention after heart attack (as advised by doctor)

Metoprolol is a cardioselective beta-1 blocker. It reduces heart rate and the force of contraction, lowering blood pressure and the heart’s oxygen demand. The XL (extended-release) formulation provides sustained effect over 24 hours.

Tablet (extended-release): take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. Swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew/break. Can be taken with or without food, preferably with food to improve tolerability. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Do not stop abruptly (risk of worsening angina/heart attack). Use with caution in asthma/COPD (may worsen bronchospasm), diabetes (may mask low sugar symptoms), thyroid disorders (may mask hyperthyroid symptoms), peripheral vascular disease, liver impairment, and in patients with slow pulse/heart block/heart failure not stabilized. Monitor blood pressure and pulse. Seek urgent care for fainting, very slow pulse, wheezing, or swelling/shortness of breath.

Other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering), verapamil/diltiazem, digoxin (risk of bradycardia/heart block), amiodarone/antiarrhythmics, clonidine (rebound hypertension if stopped improperly), insulin/oral antidiabetics (masked hypoglycemia), NSAIDs (may reduce BP-lowering effect), CYP2D6 inhibitors such as fluoxetine/paroxetine/quinidine (may increase metoprolol levels), alcohol (may increase dizziness)
