Fenofibrate 135 mg (as fenofibrate) tablet
Treatment of dyslipidaemia such as high triglycerides (hypertriglyceridaemia) and mixed dyslipidaemia; used to reduce risk of pancreatitis associated with very high triglycerides; adjunct to diet and lifestyle changes.
Fenofibrate activates PPAR-α, which increases lipolysis and clearance of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins by inducing lipoprotein lipase and reducing apolipoprotein C-III. This lowers triglycerides and VLDL and can raise HDL cholesterol.
Oral tablet. Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually once daily; best taken with or after food to improve absorption. Swallow whole with water; continue diet, exercise and weight control alongside therapy.

Not for use in severe kidney disease, active liver disease, gallbladder disease, or allergy to fenofibrate/fibric acid derivatives. Risk of muscle toxicity (myopathy/rhabdomyolysis), especially with statins, in elderly, diabetes, hypothyroidism or renal impairment—report unexplained muscle pain/weakness. Periodic monitoring of liver function tests, renal function and lipid profile is recommended. May increase risk of gallstones and pancreatitis; stop and seek care if severe abdominal pain occurs.
