Composition of Amlong Trio Tablet

Amlong Trio Tablet contains Telmisartan (40mg) + Amlodipine (5mg) + Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5mg). It belongs to the Calcium channel blocker + Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) + Thiazide diuretic class of medicines.

How Amlong Trio Tablet works

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that widens blood vessels and reduces aldosterone effects. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that helps the body remove excess salt and water, reducing blood volume and BP.

How to take Amlong Trio Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. It can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat. It can cause severe dehydration, a sharp fall in blood pressure and dangerous salt imbalances. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Prescription medicine. May cause dizziness or lightheadedness—avoid driving if affected. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and electrolytes (sodium/potassium). Use with caution in kidney disease, liver disease, dehydration, gout, diabetes, and in the elderly. Not recommended in pregnancy; ARBs can harm the unborn baby. May cause low BP especially after first doses or with dehydration/diuretics. Seek urgent help for facial/lip swelling or breathing difficulty (angioedema).

Do not take Amlong Trio if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people with very low blood pressure or with severe narrowing of the aortic valve. Not for people who are unable to pass urine, or who are severely dehydrated.

Interactions with other medicines

NSAIDs (may reduce effect and worsen kidney function), potassium supplements/salt substitutes or potassium-sparing diuretics (risk of high potassium), other antihypertensives (additive low BP), lithium (increased lithium levels/toxicity), steroids or amphotericin B (electrolyte loss), alcohol (increased dizziness), ACE inhibitors/aliskiren (higher risk of kidney impairment/hyperkalemia—avoid especially in diabetes)

How to store Amlong Trio Tablet

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Amlong Trio Tablet

Blood pressure medicines work only while you take them — do not stop because you feel well. Tell your doctor at once if you become pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. Keep a home blood-pressure record if your doctor has asked for one. Raising your legs when sitting, and reducing salt, helps with ankle swelling. Do not stop suddenly without asking your doctor. Weigh yourself at the same time each day if you have heart failure, and report a rapid gain. Do not add extra salt, and ask before using a potassium-based salt substitute.
