Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated September 2026
Asthalin Respules (2.5 ml) contains Salbutamol (2.5mg). It belongs to the Short-acting beta2-agonist (SABA) class of medicines.
Salbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenergic agonist. It relaxes smooth muscles in the airways, leading to bronchodilation and improved airflow, providing rapid relief from wheezing and breathlessness.
For inhalation use only via nebulizer as prescribed by a doctor. Twist open the respule and pour the entire contents into the nebulizer chamber; use immediately after opening. Usually can be used with or without food; follow prescribed frequency and do not exceed recommended dose. Do not swallow or inject.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of ASTHAlin Respules, please consult your doctor.
Taking more Asthalin than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Asthalin are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Schedule H: use only on prescription. Not for sudden severe asthma attack without medical supervision; seek urgent care if symptoms worsen or relief is inadequate. Use with caution in heart disease/arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, seizure disorders. May cause hypokalemia; risk increases with high doses or with diuretics/steroids/xanthines. Overuse may worsen asthma control—review treatment if needing frequent doses. If allergic to salbutamol or similar medicines, avoid.
Non-selective beta-blockers (e.g., propranolol) may reduce effect and provoke bronchospasm; diuretics, corticosteroids and xanthines (e.g., theophylline) increase risk of hypokalemia; digoxin levels may decrease; MAO inhibitors/tricyclic antidepressants may increase cardiovascular effects; other sympathomimetics may increase side effects.
Store below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep respules in original pack until use. Do not use if solution is discoloured; discard any opened/unused solution immediately after use.
ASTHAlin Respules is used to relieve symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) such as coughing, wheezing and breathlessness. It must be taken regularly to help keep the airways open at all times. Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood potassium levels. Inform your doctor if you notice muscle twitching, weakness, or an irregular heartbeat. Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart diseases or if you experience headaches, or chest pain.
