Bempedoic acid 180 mg (tablet)
Treatment of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), including primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, to reduce LDL-C; may be used when statins are inadequate or not tolerated, as per physician advice.
Bempedoic acid inhibits ATP-citrate lyase (ACL) in the liver, reducing cholesterol synthesis upstream of HMG-CoA reductase. This increases LDL receptor activity and enhances clearance of LDL cholesterol from the blood.
Take by mouth as prescribed by the doctor, usually once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; continue diet/exercise and other lipid-lowering therapy as advised. Do not stop without medical advice.

Not a substitute for diet and lifestyle changes. Use with caution in patients with gout/hyperuricemia (may raise uric acid) and those with a history of tendon disorders; report tendon pain/swelling immediately. Monitor liver enzymes if clinically indicated. Inform doctor about kidney/liver disease and all current medicines. Not recommended in children unless prescribed by a specialist.
